Do you charge for changing light bulbs and how much?

If I have access to the bulbs and don't have to move anything I usually don't charge. Most of the buildings we do have a maintenance engineer on duty so we just advise them. We do have one building whose roof leaked and mildew got in the light fixtures so I just went on a Sunday and cleaned them myself for free(75). That was about a month after the storm and we were glad we were doing the building. Last Friday the owner gave us a (Christmas/end of year/storm) Bonus that equaled 1 full month of service. Was I surprised, I split it with the team that cleans the building.

very nice. i would of split it w/ the cleaning techs, too. you people must have some nice sized commercial contracts if most of your accounts have a maintenance engineer. i hope things are getting better for people in New Orleans.

New Orleans is only about 40% and thats a stretch. Most of our business is large buildings and auto dealerships some motor cycle dealerships and a couple of restaurants, no residential.. However we did gut and sanitizes houses after the storm but we're Janitors not Maids. Thats some one else's gig. Maybe later we might reconsider homes. Staff is the biggest problem now, no one has anyplace to live and if you find a rental it 3X's what the rent should be and 100 miles from nowhere.
The best part of this job is we do some shops and restaurants in the French Quarter every night so I try and run the crew on Fridays. The stores close at 5 pm and we're done by 9pm so I'll usually take my crew to one of the restaurants we do (part trade) and treat them. When we're finished eating they are usually closed so we get to work. Everybody wins.
