Funny the emails I get.... Most of them are formatted as: WHY DO YOU GIVE THESE NEW CLEANING SERVICE OWNERS INFORMATION, YOU KNOW THERE GOING TO BE OUT OF BUSINESS IN 3 MONTHS ANYWAY!!!!!
Now if you reading this, and your a new service owner: Welcome to the Janitorial Cleaning Industry! Almost all your peers simply hate you, now the reason being in most cases for the following reasons below:
- You are going to buy about 150 bucks in equipment and call yourself a janitorial service.
-You are going to spend about $100, on some business cards and spend about another $75 in flyers.
- Your developing your concept on Saturday morning at Kinkos, and your going into business Monday.
Now that`s the basics.... You say so what, why do all the other service owners Hate Me So Much!
Well to get down to the nitty gritty, you have no idea what your doing, you low ball a bid to get it, realize a couple months it`s to low, and go out of business or realize you do not like your business so much and quit. So the back end process the customer you quit on, has the perception that WE, someone who has been in business for 1-10 years or longer should be able to match your price. Which we can`t and pretty much won`t.
Along with the pricing problems you create WORLDWIDE, you simply do not have enough experience, and either you screw up the work your supposed to be doing, leaving a bad taste in the clients mouth. OR you hire terrible low cost labor, who screws up the job, and more than likely steals something from the customer, leaving a bad taste in their mouth.
So now the customer simply has a bad experience with janitorial / cleaning services in general. They then decide to hire their own labor, and the job is gone for the rest of us...
Now! In case your wondering, I really like you new service providers. In my meetings with potential clients I explain to them what to watch out for in our industry, why my price is higher than the new guy. I do not simply sell cleaning, I sell reliable service, I sell quality service with a couple thousand references.
