I will be bidding on cleaning a 10,000 square foot building 5 days per week. It is an office building that is rented out only to dentists so every business in there are Dentist Offices. It is a 2 story building. Any info about what to bid on this building would be appreciated. Also, if it were to be cleaned 7 days per week, what would be a good quote for that?

Hi, I have been checking this site just about every day and I'm noticing that people are viewing these posts, but not replying. I'm not an expert by any means. So take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm sure that you know your rates/man hour as well as your guesstimate on your overhead for this job, so I would draw on my past experience cleaning large complexes and figure out how much time this is going to take each night. Then figure in the specialty cleanings (1xpermonth, per6months,1xperyear, etc.)add it all up and give yourself some profit. Divide the sum by the pay period and bid accordingly. From my experience in doctors/dentists offices, they do seem to take longer and need to be detailed more. Well, I hope i didn't sound like an idiot and if you get a chance check my window cleaning post. Thanks alot, Josh

When I bid on commercial work I always do a buy the hour and by the sq.ft to see which one works best for me. Here in florida there are "cleaners" coming out of the wood work so our prices are at rock bottom, I have customers that tell me one cent per sqft is to much. Now I don't know about you guys but 1 cent is way below what it takes to stay afloat. If the numbers don't work for you move on to the next bid.

We just won a bid for basically the same size building 11,000 square feet it is a medical center we clean 5 times a week "basic cleaning" we put a bid in rather low I feel. we quoted $1100 per week which is a penny per sq foot. I think we should have bid at $1300 a week but another company bid at that price and they shot it down (we had an inside contact) we will still make out well in the long term. it is a $63,000 contract over the coarse of the year and we got 2 other medical centers from them equaling almost as much. We figured it would take us 5-6 hours a night with 2 people and we pay $10 to $12 hour for this type of work add in supplies, taxes and insurance and we still walk away with approx $300 a week profit. Annual profit of approx. $15,000 plus the other two contracts not a bad day at the office.
