I need to clean 12 accordion doors in a church fellowship hall. Each door is 20 feet in length and 8 feet high The doors are approximately 35 years old and have a considerable amount of wax buildup on bottom from cleaning of VCT tile. The church is renovating and will replace VCT with ceramic tile. Doors also have normal dirt and stains from lack of cleaning through the years. What can I use to clean doors without damaging the vinyl? Any help would be appreciated.

If I were doing this job I would a test spot using a can of areosol baseboard stripper, which sprays out a gel like substance that will cling to verical surfaces.Put plastic down on floor to catch any drips. I would let it set for about 5 minutes and aggitate it with a hand brush. I would then apply again , wait a few minutes and use a small scrubby pad to break wax loose. Then rinse off spot with water that has a neutral cleaner in it. Wait for it to dry and see what happens. I have used this method on baseboards and aluminum doors with great results . I also have use it on fileling cabinets but did take off some of the paint. I would think that some of the baseboards are vynil as well so it might work. If you do this test spot , let them know that you can not garantee that it will work and that it might lighten the spot . I really believe it will work though. Just make sure the spot you do is in a small area that doesn't stand out , like in the corner on end next to hinges. If it does work well the rest of the door may have to be hand washed to match the clean bottoms.
