I wonder how many people fell into this business.
I worked as a machinist for years. Then life got a little off track & I eventually found myself working as a Janitor in a distribution center for a cleaning service. Well as it is in this business, ( do good work, be dependable & you can move into supervision). So I ended up running my shift. Long story short I ended up running all 3 shifts of a contract that was in trouble. They lost the contract but moved me into the night time office cleaning part of the business as a supervisor. He had a supervisor that I also ended up managing.
I had wanted to own my own business since high school, but never seem to find something that I could get into for little money. I decided cleaning would be it.
There is more to that story but I didnt want to bore anyone. We have been in it since 1996 ....

I'm with Russo, kind of, to get rich!!!!
OK, a couple of other reasons...
I love working with people, both in the employee side and the customer side. I knew a people business was what I wanted, and this IS the ultimate people business.
I saw an opportunity in my area, a couple of sucessful franchises and many independents. I felt this area was a prime area for this service. I looked at literally dozens of other business opportunities.
After 30 years as an I/T manager, I finally decided to take the leap of faith into the business world. I always admired business owners, no matter how big or small, because they did control their destiny, they did put it all on the line, and the good ones seemed to rise above the day to day hassles and shine with their customers and took great pride in what they did!
This business unlike some others, offers immediate satisfaction. When the job is done well, you can step back and be proud of what you've accomplished. When a clients calls and says how impressed they were and/or refers your service -- it makes my day. Anyone that has worked for a large corporation knows what I mean. Weeks, months and even years can go by and you may never really see anything get accomplished.

Nicely said Protime- To me, I like to take old floors and bring them back to a new look, I think that feeling almost becomes an addiction.

I started a cleaning business, because I had done it part time in the past and love the idea of being in charge of my career instead of the career running me! Plus I have a very service oriented personality if I can make people happy with what I do and get paid, well whats better than that!

Protime that was so dang good I am going to print it and share it with my partner. I read it three times. Maybe it will keep us on track, you know REMEMBER the real reason you started this! I hope to hire women and give them a job they can enjoy and get good pay. I don't think working has to be a unhappy thing! My plan is to hav three crews and I am going to go from crew to crew working my butt off helping them finish early and motivating them. I'd love to let people off early once in a while PAID! It really would be the best money spent, they'd clean sooooooo good for you, you wouldn't have to do mail out's, ad's in the paper. I'll probaly save money in the long run. Anyway thanks your inspiration will be in our office somewhere!
