Which is proper to do first? Dust Or Vacumm Why?

Sometimes I change off and on. If you dust first then the vacuum kicks up more dust, but if you vacuum first them you get foot prints in your vacuum lines. It uasually depends on the customer really.

Another good question.
We always vacuum last by vacuuming out of rooms; we don't leave any footprints behind.
I've heard people say that vacuuming kicks up the dust but I have never experienced that. Maybe the vacuum makes the difference.
