Has anyone here done a foreclosed home job? If so, did they get the lead from a real estate company or bank and what are the pros and cons of this kind of job?

Foreclosures are like eviction rental clean-outs. Sometimes they can be BAAAAD! We were asked to clean one... the former owner took all the faucets, carpet, fixtures and half the windows! Clean what??? LOL! Then there was the eviction over in the Butler district... feces smeared every where, stuffed toys glued/stapled/nailed to the ceiling, garbage stuffed under the mobile home so tight, garbage, bikes, car parts all burried half way in the back yard. clothes, toys, mattresses, and garbage strewn inside and out. I just stood there iin the front room nauseated by the smell... when I turned to walk away my shoes actually stuck to the carpet! Like velcro, I swear! We told the property management company that it was a case for the health department.... besides our license won't allow for any single job over $700.00 and it would have cost THOUSANDS to clean that up! John told them to haul the mobile out to the desert and burn it then level the property and start over. They had never even bothered to go look at it....... Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Natalie, I would run from that one myself What in the world is wrong with ppl these days, for pity sake. I am dealing with ppl like that right now where I work (factory). I am so sick of it. I don't even want the account anymore. It's not worth what they are willing to pay. I think I am going to turn it down if they do offer it to me. It is getting worse every day and my price is just not worth it anymore. Linda

I like the 5 & 6 million dollar mansions the best ! ;D CleaningLady85 you live in Aurburn Hills, I bet you have some excellent accounts out in Birmingham, West Bloomfield , Novi I get a lot of calls in that area. I also have free advertising on my website at www.checkmatecleaning.com

Natalie,
What did you mean on the $700 limit? Are there specific limits to different licenses in different states or cities? Or were you referring to an insurance policy clause of some sort? Or was it due to the health risk involved?
Thanks for any info.
Josie

I deal with both realtors and banks. But mostly realtors. How i got most of my jobs was by going into the real estate offices and talking with them face to face. I give them one of my business packets as well. My packet consists of a company cover letter (talks about my business), then i attach a detail of cleaning( what is included in my deep cleaning on Repo's) and i staple a business card on the front . I love cleaning Repo./Rehab homes because noone lives there. Noone's stuff is there to clean around. I bring my radio and start cleaning. I can clean whenever i want. Morning, noon, night! Which is great because i have 2 children and i can still be home with them whenever i want and work at night when their asleep. I make good money doing them (most the time) The realtors and sometimes banks, will call me. I go do a walkthrough. Submit my bid to the realtor or bank. They submit it to whomever it needs to go to.And if i got the job, they call me and let me kow when it needs done by.
BUT......
some of the homes i have went in would make you throw up. Some are sooooo bad. Dead animals, feces, rodents, fleas, trash, etc.... If the home isn't something i can handle, i won't bid on it. And believe me there's been a few i've passed on. Its scarey cleaning some these homes because some are so dirty . I wear protective gear. Gloves, masks, uniforms etc.. You don't wanna catch any diseases from rodents or the people who lived there, But alot of the time the home has had new carpet, and flooring put in,new paint, new appliances etc.. I just go in and get it clean to be put on the market.
