I really need help. I have been having problems removing water marks from shower doors. I have tried everthing that I can think of to use but nothing seems to work. Yesterday I was cleaning this house and in both bathrooms the shower doors were a mess. After scrubbing them for at least an hour each they didn't look any better. Any suggestion as to what I can use I would really appreciate.

Debbie: First , I take it the doors are made of glass. Are they textured glass, frosted, etched? Are the stains on the glass or the frames. Sounds as if this may be mineral deposits from hard water? Try CLR, although I wasn't happy with it or a chrome safe safety acid bowl cleaner. I have found this removes the hard water deposit marks and then rinse with a mildy damp sponge and polish dry. Chrome ends up nice and shiny.

Yes the shower doors are glass. They are not textured, frosted or etched. The stains are on the glass and frames. I will try the CLR, because I have tried everything else that I can think of.
Thanks!

Try using the Magic Eraser. I use on mine and it comes off perfectly and easily without so much elbow grease

OK I have the same issue. The water is HARD, well water..the kind the owner warns you not to drink. yuk anyway ..I tried CLR and Lime -Away, and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and Simple Green's Lime scale remover. ..No luck ..the shower is not that old ..installed about 2 years ago. Not sure what to do other than to tell them to replace them. Going for my pumice stone..but i think that will scratch the glass. Any ideas???

I just tried Kaboom for tubs/showers, in my kitchen. My kitchen counter had alot of build up on it from hard water. It is not sulfur water, but it is very hard and builds up fast. My counter is porcelain (sink area). I sprayed it on and let it sit for a while. Wiped the build up right off very easily with a non scratch pad. Going to try it on my shower doors this weekend. The only other thing I have had any luck with is straight vinegar. Sprayed it on, let it sit, sprayed it on, let it sit then scrubbed I have not had any luck with anything else. Linda

Check with your local Jan Supplier and see if they carry the Ettore or Unger line of glass cleaning products, if so ask them for a hardwater stain remover that these companies manufacture. I have used a 1% muranic acid solution with much success but be careful to tape of the door frame if it's brass or chrome.

Ii forgot to give you the address for a glass cleaning supplier that has all specialty glass cleaning products. go to www.colkercompany.comI have used A-1 Hard water stain remover and it works great. The MDR Formula B Mineral Deposit Remover is best for vertical surfaces and contains phosphoric acid which removes hard water stains from glass and natural stone surfaces- the latter is only to be performed by trained personnel.

I use safety acid toilet bowl cleaner. This has a clinging characteristic and takes off the hard mineral water deposits very well. You are dealing with an alkaline build up so require something mildly acidic to take care of it.
