When I started cleaning. I needed to make 58 bucks. $1740 monthly was my goal. My bills/ food/staples were roughly $1600 and I had a remaining $140 for enjoying the finer things every month, which was not much but a movie a week and maybe one nice dinner out.
I would go out and hang flyers in the day time, do window washing, sell window washing, random cleaning jobs. My hours were 8-5ish Then it all changed, my hard work of handing out cards and flyers payed off. I got a call for my first seven night account ( My very first account) It was a medium sized restaurant. It closed at midnight. I was so excited to actually have someone want me to work. This was about 30 days into the business. It was turning point feeling almost. (wondering if this is the right thing for me) So after bidding , actually not much of a bidding process at all. They supplied the supplies, I supplied the labor. (me)
Guess how much that 4 hours of cleaning was every day 12-4 am
58bucks.
I now had steady work, my monthly goal was met. The rest was cake. My hours were hell though. I would do 8-5 everyday then come home take a nap, eat dinner, then get ready to go clean from 12-4am This was my schedule for about 1 month. Then I picked up a large office down the street, 3 days a week. (guess how much) 58 bucks. Now my schedule was 8-4 nap/ dinner/ then cleaning 3 days starting at 8pm-4am I never spent any money on anything fancy. After about 8 months straight of that schedule. Working by myself for seven days a week. I added a helper and took Sundays off.
It took alot to get to that point, to financial security and the ability to take a night off. You might be at the turning point, like I was. Thinking that, your not going to make it. My advice is work hard, everyday, and know what you need to make everyday.
Once you get your first account, the bill payer, steady income, do not let up or get comfortable. Find that next 58 buck account, then the next one, and so on.
Only you know what is right for you. Only you know if your going to make it. Chances are if you work hard at something everyday, eventually it pays off.
Whats your starting out story?
