Lots of pride as a business owner we have. We market our business, bid jobs, receive jobs, clean jobs, collect payment from jobs, and reap the satisfaction of a job well done. (or cry over a bad job)
You might get the notion that your business is you, and soley you. If your in a staffing situation, it`s good to understand that its a team effort.
Do you think in Nascar the most important person is the driver? or How about the quarterback? Maybe you think the most important person is the goalie or pitcher..... because they make the most? If you do think these people are the most important .... your exactly the person that needs to read this.
In Nascar I would say the most important people is the mechanics and team of mechanics that make the car run at optional performance, also the team that is in charge of keeping stickers and sponsors on that car. I would dare to say the team selling that drivers t-shirts and promotional products are more important than the driver himself.
If you were a Nascar driver, would you feel safe behind the wheel knowing you have a bunch of monkeys working on the car. So therefore a general manager picks out that team. Therefore the general manager and his staff are very important. You as the driver may have some input about the mechanic team. You as the driver might yell to your blue in the face. Unless the marketing team and promo team is doing a good job, theres no money for a improved mechanic team. All in all, everything is a team effort. A good team works in unison, a well oiled team is working behind the scenes, providing results when you sleep. A good team crosses the finish line together.
One person does not win, everybody wins.
As a cleaning service owner, I may set up thousands of dollars in work, no way in hell I can complete all the work myself. It`s the behind the scenes people that are doing the majority.
It may be the mannequin in the window that looks good, but somebody had to dress the mannequin. Somebody had to insure proper lighting. Somebody picked all the colors that go together.
You want to insure and enforce a team effort. Words coming out of your mouth from this day forward is we did it together, look what we accomplished, heres a toast to the ..... the behind the scenes crew.
You can sit back and gloat on your success if you wish. The smart cleaning service owner does not. They think of the next day`s success, and how to achieve it keeping everybody involved and working together.
