Need some help please Im getting ready to do a home that has a glass top table that I have never seen before. Windex leaves a film and so does soapy water or just plain water. It is a thick glass, kinda smokey color, but clear rough to the touch. I have no idea what to use to clean this. Anyone come across something like this?? Thanks, Linda

why don't you just try to clean it w/ a new microfiber cloth w/ out chemicals? it may take longer but i think it will work. if not... try sprayway glass cleaner (non amoniated) spray it one the cloth first, not the glass. this will not leave a film... good stuff. you should be able to get it at your local janitorial supply store.

I want to say yes, but it is kinda rough to the touch. Plain water makes it filmy looking.

I always use ammonia (1 cup)with car window washer(1 gallon). for glass, I think it works great.

I bought a cleaner called Awesome, I think I am going to try that. It can be used for almost anything, but it has to be diluted for different tasks. Smells real nice too. If this doesn't do the trick I am going to the car window cleaner. That seems to be the answer anyways, lol.
Thanks, Linda

i've tried Awesome before and it is a good all purpose cleaner. it will deffinately streak your glass, though. looks like someone else goes to the dollar store...lol

i just started using their glass and surface cleaner. if you buy on the online dollar store, you can get a can for like 79 cents. it's a 300.00 min. order, though, but they do have a lot of good products i am learning. i go there or online for things like scrubbies, trash liners (scented) (vanilla, wild flower and spring breeze), glass and surface cleaner, comet, bleach and regular glass cleaner. i try new things all the time if they are cheap. i used grease lightning for commercial kitchen restoration a couple of times. it worked pretty good but now i use chlorinated foaming degreaser from a reg. janitorial supply store now. i never go cheap on things like finish, though.

What always worked for me was 2 step:
1. Saturate with your all purpose; overspray lightly with your degreaser. Clean and dry.
2. Saturate with diluted rubbing alcohol; use your glass rag to rub dry.

What you discribe is etched glass. non ammonia glass cleaner works well for cleaning etched glass.

Thank u very much :-) Have tried several things. Her table has rings where she has sat drinks on it and I can not get them to come out and spills like coffee.

Maybe you can buy her some coasters, that can be placed on rings of the damaged table.
