Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering how you clean out a fireplace? Has anyone had to do one and how hard is it? We are trying to decide whether this would be worth adding to extra services.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks,
Josie and Chris

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering how you clean out a fireplace? Has anyone had to do one and how hard is it? We are trying to decide whether this would be worth adding to extra services. Can anyone please help? Thanks, Josie and Chris We don't do fireplaces at all. Fireplace cleaning is considered a specialty that I feel should be done by a chimney sweep. There is not much call for fireplaces here or I would consider research, education, and adding it to our services. An improperly cleaned fireplace can back smoke up into a residence and cause injury and smoke damage.

Hi Natalie, I appreciate your help in this. I was actually wondering if it would be worth it at all. And thanks to everyone on here, too, for all of your wisdom and experience. You are all wonderful. Josie and Chris

Hi
We will clean the ashes out of fireplaces during our initial cleans and then it's $25.00 if they want it done thereafter. We just take the shop vac and vacuum the ashes out. Take the grill out and sweep it off and clean off the mirrors and clean the metal frame. That's about it. It's been a good add on.

Thanks Angela,
I used to have a wood stove and would clean it out usually once or twice per week and then clean up around it, too. So was wondering what the process might be for fireplaces.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I agree with Natalie, fireplace cleaning should be done by an expert. The only cleaning we do with fireplaces is clean the ashes out and vacuum around the fireplace. Patti

This is another task that should be on your Service Agreement if you do the work. People need to be warned about having their fireplaces cleaned on an annual basis, by the professionals.
But there's good money in cleaning out the box; that's where you can make extra money or up your price a little and "include it".
