Ok...So, I know that most of the members on here have already reached the employee stage and are larger small businesses. My cleaning service is only me. Well, I take my husband along sometimes...but he just slows me down. And my dad goes with me on estimates as my body gaurd if it's in a bad part of town. I am hoping to land a commercial job where I need two people so I can involve my mother in law. But, anyways......
Here's my thing. Even though it's usually just me cleaning. I assure my customer's it's only going to be me coming and going from their home and so on. But, I always refer to myself as "WE" in other circumstances. Such as "we will get back with you"..."thanks for contacting us". Am I doing the right thing? I guess me and my business are we, right? LOL
Any one have an opinion on this?

Hi Kim,
Well, I agree with you. From day one I always represented our company as having a labor force. I never wanted a client to wonder what happens if I am ill or not able to make it for whatever reason. I think it shows strength. You are probably like us since you are here & try to present a professional running company.
I still remember a woman in the beginning of our business. I had called back on a proposal to see if she was ready to make the right decision & go with our company. The lady said she loved our proposal but decided to go with a smaller company, that she didnt think they were a big enough acct. for us so they went with someone small?? This could have meant they went with someone cheap, but you catch my drift.

Hello, it really depends on what you want people to think of your business, if you change the "we" to "me" or "I" then your company will be percieved as a smaller company of course and some people will have a problem with that if there goal is making sure there will always be a cleaner at there place if you are sick, vacationing, ect. other's will like the fact that you are not one of the other "larger" type cleaning company's as there sometimes is a bad rap that goes with the "larger" company's.So there are good and bad points with saying"we" or "us". I would say if you have goals to becomming a larger company then go for it and continue with the "we" ...

The way you phrase it now should be how you see your business in the future: small, medium, large... I use "we" because I plan on expanding in the future and it really just sounds better to me. -Nicole
