The cost these days to repair janitorial equipment can be extreme. Let me share an experience also, about 8 years ago. I purchased a used Advance Floor Machine. About after 3 jobs it stopped working. Upset, I took it to a a local repair who fixes floor machines. Of course dropped it off to get looked at, Next day I get a call, you blew the motor it will be $250.00 for the motor and $350.00 to fix, (I only paid $200.00 for the machine used). Disappointed but understanding. I said no thank you, The dealer was like what do you want me to do with the machine, I politely asked him to toss it. He said OK. I went back to the same store a month later.. looking for a used or new machine. Low and behold there was my floor machine for sale. for $250.00 dollars. I blew up.. called him a fraud.. plus several words I can not repeat and threatened to call the police. Long story short he never bought a new motor, it was an electrical problem. I still have that machine today, it still works great. This scrubber probably has over 20000 hours of use from us, never a single problem, other than a loose wire. To this day with all the floor work that we do, we have never burned up a motor on any machine. There has been electrical problems and switches. Also the same with vacuums, many electrical problems. Never a motor. Fixing electrical problems is very easy and all owners and managers should know how to do so. Buy a volt tester $8.99 any hardware store, and test from the switches back. Most times if it is not the switch, especially in vacuums it is where the connections of the cord meet the motor. A 15 min fix can save you a costly service repair.
