Hey I was wondering I had one of my workers put wax on ceramic tile in (2) bathrooms. I know your not suppose to put wax on ceramic tile and Im wondering what can I actually do about getting the wax off. I also would like to know whats the best way to clean ceramic tile and the grout. I specifically told them not to use the wax on the tile now im wondering if I can actually strip the floors without damaging them. The ceramic tile is actually not glaze because its in the kids bathroom in a headstart building and I know it hasnt been clean for a long time cause the tile is extremely black , so if you can help me I would appreciate it thanks.

We have stripped a lot of ceramic tile floors that had been waxed without any problems. But to be safe do a test spot first. You may have to strip it a few times to get all the wax out of the pores. The grout is the hardest part. We use brushes that are designed for scurbbing grout lines. Ususally there is still some wax in the grout. We also sometimes use a carpet shampoo brush on our floor scrubber to help pull the finish out of the rough surfaces. After we go over it a few times with stripper we use a SX12 hard surface floor cleaning tool. It is attached to our carpet cleaning machine. We use 1000 psi pressure and hot water and a alkaline prespray designed for tile and grout. The right equipment will pressure wash the grout and suck up the water at the same time. It is nice to have this equipment but not to many years ago we did this job with hand brushes and wet vac. The old style did not do as good of a job as the equipment designed for today.

hey dan thanks I truly appreciate the help. I also have another question for you, when you stripped the floors did you actually use a black pad for the floors or something else?

You should be fine with a black pad, as Dan stated though try a test spot. If the finish is fresh it will actually come up easy but it will be a goooey mess, but it will come up.
