I am curious as to how you all handle a cleaning situation when a bathroom countertop is heavily cluttered with all kinds of things? Also, lets say that there is a lot of hair including whiskers from shaving, and lots of lint from towels, kleenex and toilete paper etc...
I need some help in how to speed up the cleaning time and do a good job. I clean a bathroom that has lots of clutter on the counters, and 3 small bathroom stands with all kinds of clutter. Not to mention the bathroom floor is always sticky because of hairspray no matter how much I mop it. This bathroom is the size of a small bedroom. Thanks.

I used to clean a monthly for a widowed man. And let me tell you, his bathroom every month looked like Sasquatch shed in it. Clutter everywhere too.
The only thing i did with the clutter was just grab it all and set it on the floor or off to the side. Spray the whole sink down with an all-purpose cleaner of choice( i like lysol and Mr. clean)and let it soak. Go off and do the tub or toilet while its doing its work on the filth. Scrub it down. I then take a towel and wipe it all down to make sure i get all stray whiskers and hair. Replace all the clutter, neatly.Wipe them off if needed.
Now for the floor. I get a bucket of water with an all-purpose cleaner in it, or even just a few drops of Dawn dishsoap. I get down on my hands and knees and clean the floor trying to get all the sticky residue and hairs off. Then mop real good. I then go back over the floor with a towel,to make sure i get any left over hairs.

My heart goes out to you ..... been there.....done that!!! I agree with AmofOhio about arraninging the clutter nicely and wiping stuff off. As for the floor I found nothing works as good as vinegar in water. - 3 parts to 1 and you don't have to rinse. It's a natural solvent and works reallywell on stickey stuff like hair spray and adhesive from tape and bandaids - use full strength on a cloth - the aroma fades after a few minutes.

I clean for an elderly woman whose bathroom is filled with clutter. There is only so much a person can do. Usually I take a feather duster and dust the clutter first before I do anything else. And then I push everything to one side of the sink and clean the other. Doing the same to both sides. I use a bleach spray cleaner myself, either Clorox or generic, it's all made from the same stuff. Then I at least try to organize it a little for her: straighten her perfume bottles, etc.
And as for the hair. I don't even mess with trying to use a rag. If there is a lot, I keep it dry and bring in my vacuum. I suck it up off the floor and use the attachment to suck it up from the counters and around the bathtub.

I pretty much clean this bathroom the same way Amy does, but I will take some toilete paper and wipe the hair up from the counter but if its really bad I will use the vacuum. I use a canister vac on all bathroom floors anyway. I was just curious to see if there was an easier method that would cut down on the time to do it. Thanks.
