Jolene,
First off, welcome to the Consumer section of the International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association aka the IJCSA!
As Bill from Cynmar Cleaning stated, there are a number of variables to be considered in order to come to an accurate price for cleaning services in your home.
Items to consider:
1. Size of residence, square footage.
2. Number of rooms.
3. Diversity of surfaces.
4. Usage, number of occupants, and type of occupants.
5. Furnishings and fixtures.
6. Points of customer concern.
7. Specialty items.
8. And just like a job description....other duties as assigned.
The most important one to consider is most likely #6 -- Points of your concern. Hiring a cleaning company is going to a benefit to you. The time you take caring for your home will be returned to you for your enjoyment of other activities. You can spend more time with your family, pursuing education, entertain more easily with less preparation, and so forth.
However, you will be paying money for the service, and in this business the customer is still always right. Consider what you want done in your home by a service. Do you want the doors wiped down each time, lampshades and bric-a-brac dusted, windows cleaned, laundry done, dishes cleaned? Or do you prefer to handle certain things, having the service take care of the floors, countertops, wipe smudges from the walls, etc?
Attributes such as hardwood floors, oriental carpets, marble flooring, and so forth can have a bearing on the price of services. So can considerable items to dust, pets in the home, valuable collections of pottery, dolls, art, etc. A working couple raising 4 children from toddler to teen will clean differently from the home of the single corporate executive who travels most of the time.
To best obtain an answer to your question, contact a number of cleaning services and request a quote be done in person. Most cleaning companies prefer to view the residence before setting a price. Of course we in the cleaning industry don't want to underquote -- yet we who are reputable and strive to offer a quality service don't wish to overquote either -- and that can happen.
Of course, being a member, I am biased to the IJCSA member firms! :-) Yet I reviewed a number of cleaning industry trade associations before I even started in this business. I feel the IJCSA had the highest caliber of members with integrity and sincerety. A lot of cleaning outfits come and go, but I felt, and still feel, the IJCSA associated firms are in for the long haul.
Below is a link to our IJCSA page where you can find a cleaning company in your area. They'll be happy to help you!
