What is a good way to go about giving discounts to clients that give you referrals if the referrals use your services?
I just gained two new clients from one and I don't know how to do a proper thank-you discount. What is a good amount? I clean for her once a month.

Once a new customer has had their first appointment I give $25.00 for the referral. So far it has been in cash (along with a thank you card and sometimes flowers) and everyone appreciates the consideration.
Also, I hand out referral sheets to each and every person with whom I do business explaining that I offer complimentary referral.

Pretty much the same here, but I try not to give money, just a discount on the next cleaning.

I give a discount for their next cleaning if they refer me to another paying client.

I give a one time 50% discount for each completed referral cleaning that takes four hours or more. It works out well and my customer's really look for people to refer me to!

Would it be better for me to possibly give the client flowers instead of a discount or should I do both? I have two referrals from her now and I know that she lives alone (widowed) so I really think some flowers would brighten her day and make her smile. She doesn't seem to do much during the day anyways (at least when I am there to clean), so I want something that will make her happy.
Maybe I could get the flowers or a plant and then give her $25 off this next cleaning?
I don't know what would be fair. I just want her to know how much I appreciate the two referrals, especially since I am still in the starting stages of business.
