I was asked to look at a home that is being sold. The owner wants it cleaned up. The biggest issue is the odor. The current owner is a smoker and the house reeks of cigarette smoke. Does anyone have any reliable methods for getting cigarette smoke odor out of the house?
I was thinking vinegar to wash down all the walls and maybe baking soda in the carpets....any thoughts?
Thanks, everyone!
Mike

ozone generator might work if you can clean up the source. We use enzymes and peroxide activator to wash walls and ceilings first.

Never mind...googled the ozone generator...prices seemed a little out of my reach. I'm just a new guy starting out. Although I'm sure that more move out cleaning jobs might pay for this type of thing in the long run, I don't think I would be able to afford it for this first job.
Thanks, again for the suggestion Dan!

You can rent ozone generators. Here I can rent them at Interlink supply, may be one in your area. These are commercial and no one can be at the house while they are running. There are some residential units on the market to that can run while you are in the resident. You may also suggest that their heat and air system be cleaned out by a company that does that type of cleaning. If you find one in your area they would probably pay good for any referals. A lot of odors will linger in the duct work. There is also a huge amount of deodorant blocks on the market. The one quart size tubs seem to work well . You can also set one behind the air filter. Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe some others will make some more suggestions.
