I tried starting out pricing by the room and it didn't work for me, but there is a lady here that has been in business for a while and she charges $20.00 per room, but that includes windows. I believe that price is for a deep clean in each room. For a regular clean I would say around $10.00 a room??

Linda, I have a minimum of $50 for residentials cleans. Some people have $60 as their minimum, but around my neck of the woods $50 is the going rate. that's for a studio or small 1bd 1 bath apt. I then take my minimum and add $10.00 per room/bath Half bath would be $7.00 So a 3 bd 2 1/2 bath home would be $87.00 for a general clean. I add $10.00 to the price for bi-weekly, and $20 for monthly's.
I look at the home 1st of course and go from there. If its badly cluttered or has animals i would add a little extra for that also.
All initials are $125 and up.Of course i've made exceptions to that for a couple clients.
I also have a spread sheet i made on Excel that has my hourly rate , sqft i clean per hour, place to enter sqft of home,#of baths,#bedrooms, kids, pets and dirt/clutter factor. then there's a place to enter # of cleanings per month(1 time-4 times) I enter all the info and it gives me my grand total for the cleaning. This would be for general cleans, not my rates on initil cleans.
Do you have Excel?
You could make a similar spread sheet on it and it would help you out when you have a home to figure out what to charge.
My friend helped me make mine. helps out alot because i can change my rate on it if needed, and figure in the clutter and dirtiness of a home.

hey i have been charging 10.00 per room i dont think thats enough but nobody will pay anymore so if i have a 3br and 2baths and kitchen and living room it would be 70.00 but i give my mom half because she helps me with everything do you think thats a fair price?

My minimum is $65.00 for regular and my minimum is $125.00 for initial, but I have also come down on a couple places, because they were really small. So far I have not started those jobs so I dont think I am going to do that anymore, unless they live in my town I may. Short driving distance. I think I am doing pretty good at pricing now if I stay away from price per room. That just doesnt work for me here. I dont have Excel, but I need to get it I would like to see your spreadsheet though Will have to get Excel and check it out. Thanks, Linda

Hi Misty,
Is that a wkly clean for $70.00? Do you have any idea what the sq. ft. of the home is? Are there any children, pets? My sister helps me mainly with extra work and initials. She's not my partner at this time. I pay her $10.00 hr. and sometimes I give her extra for helping with initials. Depends on the job. She doesnt pay half on everything right now and I cant afford to have her as partner, but hoping eventually I will.

$65 is a bit high for a minimum around my part of Ohio. A 2 bd 1 bath goes for around $60 around here.(general clean) You must be in a larger city than me. Your initial rates are same as mine though.
Charging per room might not work for you.You need to figure out what works for you, not everyone else. I think that charging by the room helps as a deciding factor in your price. Of course you have to look at size of room,clutter/dirt factor, consider animals, kids. But many times i have started with my minimum and charged by the room. My rates come out to be pretty close to many others cleaner's rates. But now i just do a walkthrough and know what i am gonna charge. If i have some problems i use my spreadsheet. But after 2 years of doing walkthroughs, you get pretty good at just looking at the home and knowing how long your gonna be in their cleaning and know what to charge.
