I gave a bid on a 7-8000 sq ft doctors building. I bid it @ .14 per sq. ft. totaling $1,425 per month , cleaning 2x a week. Today I called to follow up on the bid and was told that they hadn't made a decision yet but my bid was considerably higher than the rest. 3x higher. I can't believe this. I just need to know what the going bid in my area is. How can I find out? I was told that I could submit another bid if I wanted to. I felt really good about the interview. Any suggestions? Kathy
If I charged 550-650 and had to pay 2 workers (which is the plan) where is my profit? I'm still scratching my head about this. Kathy

we would have bid $550 - $650 month for the 2 cleanings per week
I would say your bid was really high, just live & learn.

Kathy, I don't bid by the square foot. The managers never seem to know the square footage . So, I bid by the time. How long are thinking the job will take your employees? I think it'd be about 2 hours for 2 employees. FYI: I have a job similar to that at 70 a night. The difference is mine is 5x a week, so at 2x week your nightly profit would be the same, but monthly profit would be less.

I to have come to the conclusion that sq ft bidding is unrealistic figure out the least you can work for include your time materials gas taxes insurance equipment used on the contract then walk the job to figure how long it will take you to complete . medical accounts take longer to perform right so add for the extra time the estimate you gave them would get them 5 days of service with most of us. figuring your bottom line will take all the guess work out of bidding then if your proposed client wants a sq ft bid take your hourly rate and convert it for them.so for instance if you need say 19.70 per hr then convert it back to sq ft by the thousand a 2000 sq ft area would take approx 1 hr in medical buildings where they need special atention use 1500 sq per hr hope this helps
