start with a web site using post cards has worked for us you can use the USPS web site to make post cards and search mail lists and have them directly mail them to the business for you go to your local post office and ask to speak to the post master they can show you their web site and how to use it search around on ijcsa to see what others are doing www.vistaprint.com has helped us with post cards as well as business cards

New to this business or new to business? Marketing your service or product does not fall on one item alone, several marketing strategies running in unison is the best way. Most that have posted questions like yours on this board are looking for the quickest way, and cheapest way to generate revenue for their business. Door to door works offering free estimates, postcards as already stated. Another is just simple letters to owners of buildings, with handwritten envelopes asking for the opportunity to meet with them to offer a better service. I think when your are planning your marketing strategy, you want to concentrate on name recognition. How much you can get your name out there, to make it familiar to your community.
I really do not think you can have enough advertising, along with networking. Make sure to join a local chamber of commerce or business association in your area. With your advertising set goals, and track results. If your placing coupons for example in a local mailer in your area. We have one that goes to ten thousand homes monthly, the cost of an add is $129 month, we run a new $100 special, and get on average 6-7 back a month, not a large return but our name is in that publication. Now we duplicate that with around 3 or 4 other publications and different forms of web advertising.
I think one of the most important parts of marketing your business is following a steady routine. If your mailing postcards for example and get 200 from vista print. Do not mail them all in one day, mail 10-20 a day, and keep doing so. If your mailing letters out everyday, target them to 5 individuals a day.
Many service providers decide to advertise and will choose one new ad or marketing method a month, and just do that. For example they place the ad in a local publication and get no or few results, they stop and try a different publication. Budget your advertising so you can do multiple varieties of advertising.
The best thing about our business is if you do get a customer from your effort, and you do good work, the repeat business is yours. That call you receive from a $100 ad, may be worth thousands to hundreds of thousands in repeat business.
