I am planning on starting up a cleaning service business in the Atlanta Ga. area. I need all information I can get! I need to know the going rate to bid for my area. I plan on getting high rise and retail contracts. How much does a cleaning service usually make yearly? I appreciate any advice.

:)First welcome to the business and now for the hard truths. Unless you have previous experience, I do not recommend that you try and go after high rise and retail contracts. Both are highly competitive, both have narrow margins, both are contested for with national companies. I recommend that you first concentrate on the residential market, steady cash flow, good margins and a good networking base. Second, you need to do your homework and FIND OUT the rates in your area. No one can give you that info, as all areas are different. Call and get some quotes on your own residence, of course not telling them that you are considering starting your own business. If you are firm on getting commercial business, then go after stand alone smaller sites. For example, heavy equipment dealership, small industrial outlets. Profit margins are much better, they appreciate the work more and this area has not been significantly penetrated by the large national "franchises" yet. Learn, Learn Learn.
