Dear Kevin,
I am planning on starting my service. I plan on being completely green. Any steps you would advise for a complete green cleaning service?
Thank You,
xxxxxx
I advise salesperson training classes. You will find it challenging enough to sell the basic of cleaning services, let alone a complete green clean system. Green cleaning (the movement) is a buzz word found through our industry to sell training, cleaners, natural systems, and certifications. It might surprise you of the 10-15 calls we get for estimates daily for service. None ask for green cleaning. Then again I live in a depressed state, terrible economy, and I think the last report was Michigan has the fattest, and most unhealthy people here. I get mixed reports Green cleaning in Florida and California is very good. Now some will debate, you do not do green cleaning so much as a marketing method, but it is a way of life. Something you do for yourself. Your personal dedication to saving the Earth. Saving your own life along with the life of your customers and employees. In a recent survey located here when I posted this 70 cleaning service owners were polled. The majority use both green and standard chemicals.
Now the service owners themselves are no different than the general public, other than they have more visible knowledge of green cleaning. When more than half are not committed, do you think the general public is? I would say no. I am happy to say I use green cleaners in my home. I like to do my part of saving the earth. I consider myself a good citizen. Then again I also smoke cigars, like cheeseburgers, and enjoy my whiskey. All somewhat unhealthy transactions that really do not go with my green cleaning save the earth and make myself healthy routine.
But.. I can be happy to say I am doing my part.
Now as far as business. There are alot of services offering strictly green cleaning and doing fine. Market health and cleaning along with responsible actions and you should do ok. Stand behind your cause and there will be a customer base that agrees with you. Keep you price competitive to other services both green and standard while selling the fountain of youth, live longer method and the customers will flock to your door. I am not sure if any research has been done of the life expectancy of a green cleaning customer, but if green is better than standard you should get more actual jobs out of a healthy customer, than a unhealthy customer. Best of all all, you doing the green cleaning, hopefully and God willing you will be there to enjoy the profit.
Best of luck to you!
