We did an apartment turnover today and it had the worst shower we had ever seen. I had to take a putty knife and scrape all the body dirt and soap scum buildup off before it could be cleaned. SO NASTY. This is a one bedroom, one bath apartment and it took 7 man hours to clean counting windows, refrigerator and oven. The oven is another story. The owner of the building said he had been using The Maids but they won't clean ceiling fans or anything like that. Patti

Oh Patti...I can relate after cleaning these college apartments. Such a pain. I often wonder if the folks that live like that wear flip- flops in the shower because of the flith they stain in just to get clean. ??
Did you take Photos..before and after?

Hi Page I do these all the time. Next time spray it with oven cleaner and then go off and do other things in the apartment. when you return it will rinse/wipe right off. -Angela

Ick, i see those all too often too! Oven cleaner really does work wonders though! I also like zeps tub and tile ceaner but the smell is about as bad as oven cleaner (not quite). I think in this case i would have gone straight to the oven cleaner like Angela suggested though!

Ok question, can you use that on the glass doors and the tile in a shower also or just certain areas of a shower??
Thanks, Linda

I don't think I would use something as strong as oven cleaner on someones shower. I would be afraid I would ruin it. I don't want to buy someone a new shower. I wouldn't use it on my shower. Patti

Sodium hydroxide (lye), is the oven cleaning products. During use, the alkali converts the grease to soap. I found this link on oven cleaners, extrordinary uses.. I would suggest to try a small area first From the websiteReady for an all-out attack on grout grunge? First, make sure you have plenty of ventilation -- it's a good idea to use your exhaust fan to suck air out of a small bathroom. Put on your rubber gloves and spray oven cleaner into the grout lines. Wipe the cleaner off with a sponge within five seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water to reveal sparkling grout lines. www.rd.com/extraordinaryuses/openContent.do?contentId=23966Linda, maybe you can give it a try and let us know the results, worst case scenario it eats all the way through your tub, flooding your basement. new tub, new floor.... ugh

Better than carpet, one thing that irks me is carpet in bathrooms, that was the first thing to go in my home remodel... just something about carpet in bathrooms ... kinda grosses me out. P.S. I dont like foo-foo rugs or carpet toliet seat covers either. just my 2 cents worth....lol

Hello all i am interested in starting my own business but i really dont know how to charge. I want to get into homes and offices so how would i charge either one? I dont want to charge too much or too little i heard it depends on your area well i'm in the atlantic city nj area with the casinos. Page your info was very informative on your site but i noticed your from the south should i charge more than the prices you had on your site? I dont know really how to approach other companys because they may not be honest. I have noticed my insurance here is more expensive I called a few places and the are in the $700-800 range so should I charge more than $90 for a 3 bedroom 2 bath?

Becky The rates for house cleaning are different in different states. I have done a few websites for people in New Jersey and they get 20.00 to 30.00 more per home than we can get here. As far as the insurance, you just need to shop around and try to find the best quote. Don't just call one insurance company because the rates are so different with different companies. Patti
