OK, it seems I have bad luck with ceiling fans because every time I touch one when doing a move out clean....then dang thing breaks. I am sure that it had to have been broken before and that someone just left it knowing that the next person that touched it ..it would fall apart.
This weekend working on move out clean ...well I go to wipe some very dirty fan blades off and one of the metal arms just snaps off like a twig as I was rotating it to do the next. OK I think - easy repair, just get a new bracket and done. However, then I move on to the 2nd one. I climb up on my ladder and literally just touched a fan blade and the whole carriage that supports all the fan blades slides down and rests on the top of the part that holds the lights underneath. I am like What the fudge!!!! and say a few words that I would not say infront of my mother.
So here is the question....I got the part for the first fan - all fixed no problem ...This is a property that was just sold and I was doing the move out clean for the renters. Do I just call the old owner and explain what happened to the 2nd fan and not fix it OR do i shell out the bucks to get the thing fixed? I am not sure if the NEW owners, who take possission on Wednesday even want the fans. I have called the former renters.. left a message, incidently they have moved 3 hours away. And by the way they lived..tons of dust, dirt and grime, it would not surpise me that they just rigged it up there knowing it would break again.
I am begining to think that there has to be a way to prevent getting blamed for something that was already broken. ANY IDEA's folks? I am willing to take my lumps and fix or replace anything if I break it but this is 3rd time a ceiling fan that seems so unstable just falls apart upon just touching it. I am up an a step ladder so it's not like I am hanging from them with a drink in my hand..lol screaming how much weight can you hold . This is just crazy.
