Depends on the condition of the house and how fast and thourough you clean. When your client asks you how long? Say: As long as it takes to do the job right!

Length of time is tricky question: when someone asks me this I might give the same answer that Kevin gave but usually follow up with after the initial clean I can give you a better idea on how long it will take to maintain the home. For example: I cleaned a 6,700 sq ft home by myself for the initial clean in under 12 hours. It was a fairly new home, 3 kids under 10, no pets, a medium amount of clutter. Minimal knick- knacks. Owners cleaned weekly. Now it takes 2 people - just under 4 hours to get it maintain it. Yesterday, 2 people cleaned a 6,100 sq ft home..took a whopping 20 man hours. House was older about 40 years, 8 kids, and yes I did say 8 kids ages 4- 16, no pets. Even though they had a nanny that helped clean from time to time the home was dusty and had a build up of dust and grime in every nook and cranny. It was unbelievable. Every wall had finger marks or some type of smudge mark to be spot cleaned. Not to mention the 100's of knick Knacks lining every shelf and window sill. Owners claim that the nanny - helps out with the cleaning ..I certainly would like to know how with a pile of crap under the fridge and stove. And all the sweet ants in the kitchen. And the black ants all over the house, I suspect that the water leaks in the basement is what is attracting them to the home. I would gather that if these people finally agree to a bi weekly clean it would take 2 people 5-6 hours and the time will lesson as a routine has been set. So, to find an answer to your question could be hard..it's the variables that you need to take into account. Age of home, number of kids (ages of them), clutter or knick knacks, types of flooring, chandlers or difficult lighting fixtures ...Not to mention if there was a cleaning service in there before you and do these people pick up and clean after themselves or wait for the cleaning service to do it for them. Even though someone could have you come in to replace the former cleaning service that could mean a lot or nothing in terms of the level of dirty you will be cleaning. I have found within my new business that it is the practice of cleaning several types of home is what will help you gage how long it will take you. Also, it is developing our own routine of cleaning and sticking to the plan to cut time down.

I have a house that we clean, two people, the family is very neat and clean, they have one child. The house is 3600 sq ft with all hard wood floors that we use special cleaner on. it takes us approxametly 3-4 hours for both so 6-8 hours for one. it really depends on the condition of the house.
