Hi, I was wondering if you guys have a monthly charge? Seems like everyone wants a cleaning for the same price as weekly or bi-weekly clean. I try to charge $20.00 more more a Monthly. What do you all do? And what is your starting rate for a Monthly clean? Carla

Carla Of course some clients will try to get the monthly cleaning for the weekly or bi-weekly rate. Just explain to them that after a month their home will need a lot more cleaning and will take your crew longer to clean. My starting rate for monthly cleanings is $100.00, but that is for a small home. Patti

Patti, Thank you for the advice. That's what my starting rate is also. I was wondering if that was to much since people seemed like it was. I do try to explain to them that it takes longer because its a whole month since we come back to clean. Like you said "People want everything for nothing", and I'm not working my butt off for nothing anymore. Thanks again Patti. Carla

It always makes me happy to hear someone say they aren't working for nothing any longer. The cleaning business is very hard (sometimes nasty) work. You should get paid what you are worth. If someone tries to talk me down on my rates I send them somewhere else. I don't even give these people the time of day any longer. It's like they say, "you get what you pay for" If they want cheap, that is the kind of cleaning they will get. Patti

I'm glad to hear that people won't work for slave wages just to get the job also!
I can't stand people who just want CHEAP!!! It's insulting! I do hard, good work that they don't want to do & provide a excellent service for them so I'm not working for them peanuts while these people get all the GOODIES for themselves!
The individual cleaners who severly undercut are not doing this industry any favors. Life has changed & homes services are in demand! Get paid what you're worth!!!!

Here Here! I agree totally. I have only officially been in business for 4 months but am busy every day of the week now, and I am hiring 2 people to help the 3 we already have starting in 2 weeks. I still have houses that were my first clients, and for them I work for peanuts. Actually, I am losing money if I don't clean them myself. However, they were my first ones, so they deserve something extra anyway just for trusting me to begin with! Going forward though, and since the last 2 months; we ARE NOT working for free. For example, I just got a new client: 1500 sq feet, 2 bed 1 bath.. $95 bi-weekly (if I were to do monthly I would charge them $130). Also, 3200 sq feet, 4 bed, 3 bath, $150/bi. I originally had that one priced at $186, but lowered it because it was already so clean. I have learned a lot in the last 4 months about pricing and such. Probably the most important thing... not eveyone cam afford this service. It is a luxury and should be priced as such. David www.MyCleaningFairy.com

Wow! You are one hell of a good cleaning service! How long does it take you for a one bathrm size apt or house? I start at $75 for that size & pretty much do what you have listed for service. (I think you do alittle more!) I was thinking of raising my $75 on one bathroom size to $80 -$85. I hear our electricity that has already gone up 3xs is going up again 50%!!!!! I pay $70 a month for electricity that used to cost $30. I hardly even use much electricity!!! Is anyone else going to raise rates? We need to set a standard. Doreen

To clean a 1 bathroom size apt or house, it varies based on the amount of dirt in the home. For example: we do a house that has 1 bath, 3 beds, 1 lr, kitchen and small dining area. We do it every other week and spend a total of 2.5 hours in the house. To be more specific on that 2.5 hours, that is how long it would take 1 person. If we have 2 ppl (we usually have 3), it is a little over an hours time actually in the home. We only charge $60/bi for this home, but it was our second house that we ever got and I don't want to raise their price just because I didn't know what to charge to begin with. We just got another house, same size, and I charge $95/bi for that. A few months ago, we cleaned an apt for a move - out, so no furniture... 1 bed, 1 bath, very small. It took 2 ppl a little over 2 hours to clean. We charged $95 for that service. David www.MyCleaningFairy.com

Do you think I can raise my price for a one bathroom to $80 -$85? Maybe next year? It just keeps getting more & more expensive to live & there's never enough money to live on. Pretty soon we all will need one million dollars just to pay our rent & utilities! And all the rich guys will be zillionares not millionares or billionares.

I would think that you can raise it, next year without a big fuss.
I approach needing more money by getting more business, instead of messing with the business I already have. For example. I am busy most everyday of the week, cleaning. To free up my time, get more business and therefore more money, I am hiring someone to take care of a few of my clients. This will free up a couple of days for me, to get more clients, and more money.
It is expensive to live, thats for sure. Make sure you price your services so you are making money from the get-go. I try to price my services with the idea in mind that I will not be the one doing it. That way, for a $95 job, if I do it, I get it. If not, then I only make about $50 on it after paying payroll... but that is all I expected anyway.
