Hi,
I started a residential and commercial cleaning business 5 weeks ago.
So far my biggest challenge is estimating how much to charge for cleanings. The biggest time component seems to be bathroom cleaning. When I talk to customers they will tell me it takes them 30 minutes to clean their en suite or master bath. In reality I find it takes us about one hour for a thorough cleaning of a Jacuzzi tub, shower stall, toilet and sink/s. I am finding a regular full bath about 45 min and a half bath 30 min. Does anyone have input on this topic?
Thanks Phil

Hi Cleansweep-
When I first began and still get this when I go for my in-home consultation with a new client, they will tell me ...oh this bath takes me 10 or this one takes me 30 min. I myself just look at their bathroom write down my est. time. Because we have to give more time because I do the crevices of a shower stall, make sure their jacuzzi is shiny and then sweep and mop the floor. I know my self I am in a master bath at least 45 min.and that is for 2 sinks, shower stall pretty big, a jacuzzi, 4 mirrors to shine, toliet, and then sweep and mop the floor. Go with what it takes you and your team to clean. We clean differently and I am more picky when it comes to getting things done. I hope I just didn't ramble, I hope this helps Lisa

Lisa,
Thanks so much for your reply. I am finding the cleaners take about 1 hour for an en suite and 30 min for 1/2 bath, even when they do them weekly. Is there an accepted practice where a different level of thoroughness is use the first time a bath is cleaned versus a weekly clean?
Thanks, Phil

Hi Phil, Here is my cleaning way. My first time of course is top to bottom, lite fixtures, mirrors, tub,tub unit, toliet, and then the faucet, and sinks, and of course the sink cabinet I clean thoroughly, (light switches too). But on my maintenance 1. I first start spraying down the tub (scrubbing bubbles or if really bad Kaboom), let that sit while I'm cleaning/shining the tub unit, because that doesn't get that dirty if it's being cleaned weekly, then I work left to right cleaning the tub unit and then down and scrub the tub, this way the cleaner has worked in the tub first, working off the grime. 2. I do the toliet, then dust the light fixtures, and shine the mirror .Spray the countertop, clean the sink, shine faucet. 3. dry-mop the floor, then wet-mop. And I look for any toothpaste or grime on cabinets, if their isn't any, I move on, and I'm otta there. This one is 20-30 minutes. Let the cleaning products work, not you, that I have learned the hard way. So I hope this helps, if it isn't dirty, like the cabinets, don't clean that is already clean, if there is one spot of toothpaste, clean only that spot. This is the way how I do it fast and everyone is happy. Is this the way you do it. Also I find Microfiber cloths is great to work with, it won't leave surfaces w/a smudge, or doesn't leave any lint behind. Have a great day- Lisa
