I recently picked up a new industrial building and they have only been in operation for a year. We have the cleaning contract but have not done floor care. They are shutting down the plant for 1 week. They have ask us to Strip & wax floors. Total sq. ft. is 18000.
My question is this. How long will it take to strip with 2 employees?
How much stripper and wax will I need?
How long will it take to lay 6 coats of wax?
And How much will I need?
I will roping off in sections of 4500 sq ft at a time per each day. Completeing it in 4 days. What do you think? Is that taking to long?

;D Okay, I am not trying to be picky but we need more information. What type of flooring, I assume VCT? How many coats of finish are down on the floor? Why are you stripping the floor out? What equipment do you have, ie, 175 rpm swing machine and bucket and mop or propane stripper machine and autoscrubber? How much stripper depends on how bad the floor is and what is down on it now. It takes a more stripper to remove coats of sealer than it does coats of metal interlock finish. Are your employees experienced in floor maintenance? What type of finish are you using? It takes longer to lay say a 23% solids finish than it does a lower solids finish. I find this because the higher solids is a little more difficult to work with. All this being said and assuming what it would take me with my experienced people and equipment and materials. Finish, apporx.5000 sq. ft per 4 L. jug Stripper: assuming relatively light build up and not sealer with long chain polymers that require 2-3 strips to remove I'd estimate. 40Litres How long to lay? depends on your experience and equipment. With the rubbermaid system I use I can lay 3000 sq. ft. in an hour and approx. 40 minutes dry time depending on air flow and humidity. Hope this helps. Bill
