I have a restraunt that has floating wood floors. The owner wants them cleaned. They look like they have been mopped with a degreaser of some sort and left a film on it. I was thinking of cleaning the floors and maybe buffing . Any ideas what would work best?

Firstly, make sure and determine if the floor is a floating hardwood floor or simply a laminate with wood grain for the want of a better word "picture" on it. There is a large difference in the toughness of the latter . The floating hardwood , and by this I mean, it is solid wood all the way through, is for the most part thicker and more stable than the laminate which is basically a film over an MDF or similar sub strate. The laminate will warp and deteriorate much easier. No matter what the case , it is not a good idea to use substantial amounts of water on a floating floor. I might suggest a hardwood floor cleaner like Woodpecker which is no-rinse to clean. I wouldn't recommend buffing with any spray buff solution and surely wouldn't recommend any aggressive pad. I wouldn't even go 3M white, maybe try to buff it with a bonnett pad that has no scrubbing strips. He will continue to have a film as any degreaser leaves a film on the floor. I doubt if he can get away without the degreaser unless he has a walk off area from the kitchen service/pickup area.

man power (elbow grease) use a neutral PH cleaner. If it is bad try a slightly heaver floor cleaner.Check with your supplier. Worst case scenario try a carpet bonnet on on a low speed swing machine. [Use a wool or Cotton nap None scrubbing or a non-abrasive pad] with a neutral PH cleaner. After damp mop a few times with clean clear water. Be careful with floating floors as you do not truly know the thickens of the floor its self. Also remember that all of the new laminate inter-locking floors only recommend damp moping. If there is any damage done to them they can not be repaired only covered up. ;DLaminate floating floor. 8-)Its cheap now but what will you do in 6 months!

I would recommend cleaning the floor with a wood floor cleaner/maintainer, and a flat microfiber pad. This process may require a repeat step due to soil or residue on the surface. When the floor is dry, buff with a lambswool bonnet pad under the 175 rpm rotary floor machine. Never allow water/solution to accumulate on wood surfaces which may or will cause damage.

I little bit worried that If the refrigerator is to be placed, the floor will buckle. Does anyone have any experience with this?

First sweep or vacuum up loose dirt etc., then wipe with damp cloth. You can use wood floor cleaner too. Spills must be wiped up immediately with a lightly water dampened cloth and then hand buffed dry. Use a mild cleanser and a damp cloth in the event of spills or other stubborn dirt. Do not use an abrasive scrubber.
