A bit Rusty at quoting......Need the Big GUNS

OK it's been a few months since I went on a quote... we have been quite busy lately.

Anyway, I have a 8400 sq ft home. Client wants 2 x week -Mon and Fridays. It's not in too bad of shape EXCEPT of some of the little details such as marble floors, granite showers and some wood work that needs conditioned. AND He wanted a quote that was the most economical to the family....house worth a cool 1.2 mil hope he does not have an adjustable mortgage..anyway.....

Total rooms/areas 26
Bedrooms 6
Full Bath 4 full (Master is huge)
1/2 baths- 2
3 sets of stairs. all carpet - one with wood edges.

Then this part where I am confused or rather have confused myself. yes, no ....

[glow=red,2,300]So What would you bid on something like this with a home so large and broken down like this?[/glow] Keep in mind he wanted most of the bathrooms cleaned every time.

WEEK 1:
1st clean 26 rooms =23-24 hours
2nd clean: 13 rooms =7.75 hours

WEEK 2
3rd clean: 17 rooms = 10.25 hours
4th clean: 13 rooms =7.75 hours

WEEK 3
5th clean: 24 rooms= 13.25 hours
6th clean: 13 rooms =7.75 hours

WEEK 4
7th clean: 17 rooms = 10.25 hours
8th clean: 13 rooms =7.75 hours

WEEK 5
9th clean: 26 rooms =15 hours
10 clean: 13 rooms =7.75 hours

I wondering if I am in the ball park at all. I need a little help with a kick in the pants to get me back in the swing of things. I have kept my quotes to myself to not influence your opinions.

Oh yeah - If forgot to mention the two long haired collies and one small dog and 3 cats.....a bird and bunny. I suppose that is a factor too...grrrr.

Hi Kat,

I would do it by the sq. ft. and charge onetime weekly rate;
8400 X .07 = $588.00, plus your cleaning materials. Your average weekly hours look like close to 20.0 hrs at 588.00 it will equal $29.40 per hour not including your materials. The initial cleaning I would do for .12 a sq. ft. =$1008.00...........

Wow, that is a large home. To be honest Kat I would probably do the initial on an hourly basis. Since it is so large I would also probably charge around $25.00 pmh (if it were me) Is this an option? I have never cleaned a home this large so I am not sure how long it would actually take. In my area I would probably gain this account at around $450.00 per week. If there is no option on hourly for the initial then I would probably go for around $600.00 on the initial, but that is a wild guess on my part. I wish I could be better help, but the homes I do are no bigger than 3000 sq.ft. Would love to find one of this size.

I got the intial job at $750.00 and with a big reduction in the number of rooms serviced per clean .....he orginally would only go with a limit of $300 a week for 2 x a week. But I got him to realize that was not going to happen so he agreed at an average of $350 a week. I am happy ;D

I have an old residetial client that is wanting a bid. The home is 2300 sq ft., 3 year old child, 2 dogs ( one that sheds alot), lots of detail at this home, 2 1/2 baths, stained concrete, wood floor, ceramic tile, carpet, lots of glass, and stainless steel. Wants me there 2x per week and to do laundry. A bit rusty on what to charge these days. Any suggestions? I have cleaned it 1x already took me 5 hours. I am thinking 4 hours the first time I clean for that week and 2 the second. total of 6 hours per week.
