Hi Everyone!
Will be finishing up a strip/finish job tomorrow and I'd like to know what the price per square foot would be? I've been reading this website for an hour or so each day and can't find any up-to-date pricing for this. There is pricing from last year and the year before but nothing for now.
This is an awesome website and I loved the floor stripping and finishing write-up by Dan!! My husband passed away in January and I am a beginner at this. My niece, nephew and myself followed Dan's instructions step-by-step and the floors came out perfect!!!!! I can't thank you enough, Dan, for your write-up!!!!! Just need to price it now. Thanks for any info. I do appreciate your time in helping me out!!!!!

YOur welcome and glad you were able to use it. Pricing will vary all over the place in stirpping and waxing. Quality will also vary greatly. Some charge what I charged 25 years ago. Some charge higher than I do. Location and competition may effect pricing some. I charge different rates by different conditions. Such as if I have to move items, if I have to do a job in two parts or more meaning that I will have to return to do each section. In general though I would say around .30 to .40 sq foot would be average. Just guessing though. I know some would say .20 to .30 a sq foot. There is lots of overhead and hard work in stripping and finishing floors. In my opinion you should be paid well for the work and if you do a high quality job. Other things that may effect the price would be how much you are paying for chemicals, how much labor is costing, location of job and so on.

Hi Dan,
Thank you very much for your reply! I think I'm going to go with the $.40/sq. ft. because we did 2,460 sq. ft total and it was very hard work!! I just didn't want to charge too much, ya know? I'm up here in New England (Mass to be exact) and our floors take a beating so stripping is not easy!! I am so glad that I found this board and your instructions for this job!! I couldn't have done it without you!! Thanks, again, Dan, for the info on cost and your write-up!! Both are priceless!!
