That depends on what areas you service. If you service a small rural town you won't make as much as you would in a large city. For Cincinnati OH and Northern Ky the rates for a 1200 sq ft home are between 25.00 and 35.00 per hour per person. Patti

I would agree with Patti and say prices here are about the same. I am about an hour away from cincinnati just outside of Dayton Ohio

Our base price for <1500 sq ft is $50.00.... more or less depending on certian conditions.... kids, pets, distance.... this is why we like to actually see a place before giving a final price. We have a 1000 sq ft home in foothills that belongs to Chairperson of KACC that we do for $35.00 bi-weekly. She is SOOOOOOOO clean we actually feel guilty taking her $$! Now we actually call her the day before our scheduled visit and ask if she actually needs us! LOL! The only thing that was truly dirty last time we were there was her dog!

Wow Natalie. 35.00 for a bi-weekly clean or even weekly clean around here is unheard of. We charge 65.00 for a one bedroom apt. Patti

Here in Kingman AZ prices are lower... well, pay is anyway! The house I mention is about 900 sq ft and takes 2 of us less than an hour, she is soooooo clean. And it's a Chamber of Commerce bigshot so we gave her a big discount. As a result, we get some freebee's and they alway respond quickly.
Our base price is $50.00 on a weekly, $65.00 on a bi-weekly for standard clean of a home of less than 1500 sq ft. And like I said before, it could be more if there are pets, kids, etc. or if they want more than a standard clean.
Didn't mean to scare you! LOL!

BTW.... we have been in business 6 months, so only John and I to do the cleaning... no employees as yet so base our prices on $15 to $20 per person per hour. Sorry for misunderstanding!

That sounds about fair Wizard, and Welcome to the forum. I thought the prices would be a little higher on the west coast. Do you get alot of new business with those prices or are you right in line with your competition.?

San Francisco should be higher. We charge $15 an hour for residential & $20 an hour for commercial per person because we are in Kingman Arizona, population 50,000 which includes county ordnance and surrounding areas..... every thing is lower here. I should think the Bay Area would charge at least $25 per hour per person residential and $30 to $35 per for commercial.

Patti, Ya, John & I work pretty well together. I only wish he would remember to give me receipts when he uses the company credit/ATM card and include a $25-$50 extra charge when he does a move-out/eviction/foreclosure estimate The last foreclosure we did the oven was so bad it took me almost 3 hours to clean inside/out with hood! I don't think he even looks at or inside them! Perhaps next time I should make him clean the kitchen appliances Natalie

[snip] I should think the Bay Area would charge at least $25 per hour per person residential and $30 to $35 per for commercial. Natalie San Francisco SHOULD be higher! When I researched my competition in Oakland (across the bay) they were charging on average $30-32 per cleaning hour for residential work. I would think San Francisco would be a couple of dollars more, at least! Wizard...have you shopped the cleaners in San Fran to see what they are charging? I think $22.50 per cleaning hour is way too low!!!

Commercial cleaning around here seems to be around $17.00 an hour per person, but from what I am learning now for Residential, the price is $25.00 - $35.00 pmh and they don't blink an eye to $25.00. There are also quite a few ppl who charge by per room. The cost is around $20.00 per room they clean. One woman includes windows. I'm thinking more in the line of $25.00 per room, windows not included. They are getting so much business this way that they have to turn ppl away everyday. I think these are homes ppl live in. Vacant homes are alot more. What do you think??

That is a great point! I think if you would do an average single owner residential cleaning services make more per hour, than single owner commercial cleaning service(both performing 8 hour days doing just general cleaning) on a hourly rate scale, If you though added comercial services such as stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, or window washing, A commercial owner would I think far exceed a residential cleaners average hourly rate. Linda your awarded a good karma point for that! I will also start a new poll in residential.
