Housecleaning used to be for the wealthy, or only for the prosperous family. Residential cleaning services are for everybody, working mothers or fathers, seniors, full time students and full time workers. Residential Cleaning services prices vary from region to region but on average a 1200 sq. ft. home will cost roughly $65.00 All supplies and labor are usually always included. In most cases residential cleaning services can do the cleaning and maintenance in a more affordable fashion, saving you time and money. To get started with a residential cleaning program, its best to call a service, explain what you want cleaned, how often you want housecleaning, and request a free estimate. There are many IJCSA members who will walk you through the process of starting residential cleaning for your home. Give them a call for a free estimate Contact A IJCSA Member

lol... does it matter what I think? It matters what you and the customer think? If that was 12 hours labor for you and your sister, what are you paying your sister? You paying taxes on the money you both made? Whats left? What did you spend in supplies? How much did you make off that job? Did you gain experience from the job worth more than money? This was a consumers thread in the consumers area? I hope you did not base your prices from the Ad

I normally start my initial fee at $150.00 but I have come down to $125.00 for a one bedroom apt. This doesnt happen often. For a home that size I would have charged around $175.00

Is that 6 total hours between you and your sister or was it 12 TOTAL HOURS between you and your sister? I would say you BID LOW....... Trust me.... you won't bid that low again...... Just take your time bidding and look at all the factors involved. When you are new to bidding I would suggest not bidding over the phone for a while or if you do ONLY GIVE A BALLPARK FIGURE. GOOD LUCK!

Patti, After seeing how much you charged for a 2900 sq. ft. home, I really feel cheated...LOL. My Nephew and I cleaned a 6500 sq. ft home for $200.00 . Took us 8 hrs. I live in Virginia. Does this price seem reasonable? or was I really cheated??

Well, that works out to $12.50 per hour for both of you. I don't know much about residential, but I think it's a cheap rate. Just think of it this way. If you had to pay two employees to do the work and it took them 8 hours each for a total of 16 man hours, would you be able to make a decent profit at receiving $200 after paying your employees, expenses, etc.

The longest it has taken us is 3 people 3 hours. Patti

Hi everypne, I know I bidded this job low because it was my first one. I did realize that I was too low but won't make that mistake again LOL . my sis helped for 3 1/2 hours. however I did get an agreement for bi-weekly so it worked out plus another job by referral, the 2nd customer doesn't want an initial clean so I started that one on a biweekly schedule. The 1st job supplied their own products and sis didn't mind her cut. I didn't want to go to high , in this area the range for a regular clean is $100. I really don't believe that in this area you could get $200. but I may be wrong. I will do more investigating on this. I know that I will not be so cheap next time, you live and learn. I did not get this job thru an ad I got it thru a friend., so overhead was cheap. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks

With getting a regular client and a referral plus the $$$ you were paid, I would say you did pretty good.

Thank You Dan I didn't think that it was a total loss plus the 1st customer has already asked for a friend about doing a new constuction job in January. and she said she was very pleased with the cleaning and won't hesitate to recommend me to others. Oh by the way I did tell her that the price for her would only apply to her due to the fact every house is different ( size and condition )

Ok so how much is the average charge for a maintenance cleaning for a house this size?? I have another house this size to look at to bid in the next couple of days. I know I will change my price for initial cleans You live and learn. my momma raised no fool - lol
